Afeez was born on the 12th of April, the year of his birth not known and he is the husband of another renowned actress Mide Martins, the daughter of a famous Nollywood actress Funmi Martins who died after a brief illness on the 6th of April, 2002.

Afeez was nicknamed Owo, a name he earned because of his close relationship with Yemi Ayebo, which literally means close friend or close pal.

He is from Iseyin, Oyo State in south western Nigeria.
